Natural dyes, cotton, linen, silk, polyester thread

The Mountain Studies collection explores the wildness of Los Angeles including the shapes of the San Gabriel mountains. With meticulous attention to detail, Elizabeth’s work provides a sense of visual and textural resolution through a somatic approach that lives at the intersection of sculpture, collage, and quilting. Color plays a prominent role in the work, a constant study of harmony through the pigments of natural sources, mostly plant based and sometimes wild foraged. Fluorescent threads express the energy that is in wild places, a vein that follows the topography and shapes of natural forms. Media includes reclaimed and antique fabrics, plant and insect dyes.
